Georgia L. Sherwood Castle was born September 2, 1929 in Butler, Missouri to Harland B. and Maude Hartel Sherwood. Georgia spent her early years in Butler, attending Butler Schools and graduating from Butler High School, Class of 1947. During her entire High School years she worked at Fisk Theatre and continued until it burned down. Georgia accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at the age of ten at the Ohio Street United Methodist Church. She later transferred her membership to Butler Presbyterian Church in 1991.

Georgia was united in marriage to Lewis L. Castle on April 22, 1951. They began their married life in New Bedford, Massachusetts, later moving to Kansas City, Missouri and to Independence, Missouri.
Georgia attended Secretarial School in New Bedford and was employed as a secretary in Aerovox Corporation, National Wholesale Association of Credit Men, Jackson County Planning Commission and Bliss Association, Inc.
The couple retired in 1982 and returned to Butler, Missouri. They enjoyed their early retirement by traveling the states, making a point to visit all state capitols.
Georgia was an active and devoted member of Butler Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and singing in the Sing Praises Choir for many years. She served as president and secretary of BHS Alumni, president of her P.E.O. Chapter and was a charter member of Our Old High Restoration organization.
Georgia's ability to communicate was through laughter, smiles and giving hugs. She was an optimistic, happy person and often said, “I love meeting new people, because I have so much to tell them.” Her passion was for all arts, but she especially enjoyed music and oil painting.

Georgia was preceded in death by her husband Lewis, her parents, an infant sister and one brother Dwayne Sherwood. She is survived by six nephews and two nieces and her special children and grandchildren too numerous to mention.
Georgia was a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to many. She loved each deeply.
